Seville Cathedral Tickets

The Cathedral of Seville is a world wonder, the largest cathedral in Spain and the third-largest in the entire world. However, if one were to make comparisons solely by the interior air volume, this cathedral might be the largest in the world. It’s one of the most visited monuments in Spain for a very good reason!

If you had visited this spot in the 12th and 13th centuries, you would have had the opportunity to visit the Almohad Mosque. Today, almost all signs of the mosque are gone, and in its place is a Christian Gothic cathedral which started in 1401. The cathedral took only a little over 100 years to complete, and all that remains of the former mosque is the Patio Naranjos and the Giralda Tower.

Visiting this cathedral is the main reason most people visit the beautiful Seville. We advise planning around four days to see this magical city – you don’t want to miss getting into the cathedral due to not planning your time well.

The cathedral is a sight to behold and an absolute must-see. A ticket into the cathedral will allow you to explore everything the cathedral has to offer. Here are some highlights to look forward to:

The Tomb of Christopher Columbus

The Cathedral of Seville is where you will find the tomb of Christopher Columbus. Arturo Melida sculpted this amazing tomb. Originally the tomb was constructed in the Cathedral of Havana, but after Cuba declared its independence from Spain, it was moved to Seville.

Antecabildo, A Room In The Cathedral

The wall reliefs and sculptures in this room are of biblical events and are thought to have been done by Juan Bautista Vazquez the Elder, Diego de Velasco, and Diego de Pesique. The main entrance to the room was constructed by Herman Ruiz Jimenez, but the vault was done by Juan de Minjares and Asensio de Maeda.

The Giralda Tower

The Giralda Tower was originally a minaret, and formed part of the Moorish mosque that existed before the cathedral. The present bell room at the top was added to the tower in 1560, with construction ending in 1568AD.

Patio Mariscal, A Courtyard In The Cathedral

Also known as the Chapter Room, this courtyard was used as the residential area for the capitular lords. Be sure to look closely along the walls of the room and you might find a gravestone dated 1603.

The Patio Naranjos

In Moorish times the faithful would have visited the Almohad Mosque by way of the Naranjos courtyard, washing their feet and hands in the patio’s fountain before entering the mosque.

The Seville Cathedral is a breathtaking structure and rich with history of the region! It contains a fortune in gold and jewels. Our guide was well versed and shared a lot of her knowledgge with us. This tour is well worth your time to take.

We were slightly disappointed with this tour. To begin with, our tour guide was 30 mins late to start the tour. We were given headsets to wear so we could hear the tour guide during the tour. Unfortunately, the guide was difficult to understand at times and her voice was very monotone. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the cathedral and Alcazar Place, but the tour itself was rather boring.

The tour was very informative and was a great way to see and learn all about Seville. The Alcazar and Cathedral were stunning and the walking tour around the area was a brilliant way to learn the history of the city. It was extremely hot in August so be sure to be prepared with water as there are no stop in the 3 hours trip.

We had booked an 11.30 visit but got entry quickly to go in 20 minutes earlier. The on line system worked well, though we did make the mistake of entering through the group entrance and going all the way through the Cathedral to the main entrance to collect the hand held English listening guide. A very good visit.
