Spanish is a difficult language, with different genders for objects, and often, a lot of different ways to say one thing! But it’s helpful to know a few words, to help you communicate, and endear you to the locals! Particularly because many locals know very little English.
If you want to say ‘ride a bike’ in Spanish (and after all, why not?) you can say andar en bicicleta! You can also shorten the word to its more casual use, and say andar en bici.

It was fun to bike in Madrid – so that activity in itself was really enjoyable. This is set up more as a tour of the city, stopping at crucial parts of the city so I recommend doing this as a way to learn about the city while doing an active skill like biking. I don't recommend doing this and a walking tour – you will end up seeing the same sites.

The tour covered the main sights in downtown Madrid and is easy to do. I opted for an e-bike which is not really necessary for this tour since there are frequent stops and hardly any hills. Our guide Borja was lively, engaged and obviously had fun doing his job. He also kept the BS to a minimum which is always appreciated if your in the industry yourself, like I am. If you enjoy cycling and love to pass tourist buses stuck in traffic, this is an excellent way to get an overview of downtown Madrid and a good introduction to cycling in this city. If you want to explore beyond downtown rent an e-bike for a day (there are hills!) and explore Madrid Rio. Loved it!
