At this UNESCO World Heritage Site, you’re destined to find a family vacation that encapsulates the millennial creator as well as the medieval historian within.

Hot air balloon flying over Segovia

Although it is currently used as a museum, the history of the Alcázar of Segovia is profound.
The castle was originally created as an Arab fortress, made with mostly wood that outlined the foundations left from the Roman era. It has since been transformed into a royal palace, a state prison, and used as an Artillery college.

This beautiful piece of architecture was noted to be the inspiration behind Cinderella’s castle in the Walt Disney film and has noteworthy architecture and some stunning views. It was built on a hilltop and situated where two rivers meet. These rivers flow out of the Guadarrama mountains, which are about 20km away.

Just an hour from Spain’s capital city, there’s a little bit more adventure to be had in Segovia’s Castle after your bike tour through Madrid. Read further to learn more about prices and tours.

The sites were really amazing to see, especially the Segovia castle. I really enjoyed hearing the history and we covered a lot of ground with rest in between as we traveled to each site. Javi was our guide and he was great.

I feel our guide was very good however it was such a distraction for him to speak English then flip back to Spanish then English then Spanish… for people having a hard time paying attention ….. you lose it… after going by something on bus by the time it’s English you have passed it and lost the intent of information.. after awhile I took earpiece out and stopped paying attention… beautiful tour but would have appreciated so much more if we had English tour and seperate Spanish speaking tour.. plus it started late and we sat in lobby without anyone giving information… disappointed with this company in particular

Our tour guide, Haan (please excuse spelling, I wish I had asked!), was awesome. The trip was clean, clear, convenient, and I made friends. I only wish that we had spent more time in Segovia! The trip was incredibly valuable if you are trying to pack a lot of visits in to your stay in Spain, but if you have a bit more time to spare, I would suggest maybe finding an excursion with more time in both cities.

In general, it was a good trip besides the fact that the bus was about 40-45 min late to leave Madrid! It was early and super cold, so that was not cool, especially if you go with kids. Also, this trip is advertised as cheaper than others because what you pay is just to take you to the cities, but the tour guide is not included and has to be paid additionally. We got it as a courtesy just for Toledo for the bus being late.

Good day tour for travellers with a few time to knowing two cities in a day. We check in at 8.25 am and a person from the bus company accompanied to the bus stop. Departure at 9 am. We chose the option to be at our own pace and refuse to buy the guide walking tour on the bus. Congratulations to Ester and her high sense of humor. She made our trip enjoyable with histories and recommendations of the places to visit. Thanks.
