Hidden Treasures of Madrid, Tapas Menu
for"La Taperia de la Abuela"
Note: Andrés
has translated La Taperia's best tapas
into English. The prices listed were
updated in March of 2002. I haven't received any
news from Andrés of any price changes; nevertheless you
can check La Taperia's outside menu just inside
the entry door.

Above:
Carne a la piedra. The hot
stones are in place awaiting the cooks.
This day we had ox. |
Recommended! Carne a la piedra:
A red-hot stone is brought to your table
accompanied by a plate of raw meat and a
bowl of marine salt. You become your own
cook by spreading the salt and placing
slices of meat and bread onto the flat
stone surface. When the meat is done to
your taste, place it on top of one of the
slices of bread that you have put onto the
stone (by now crispy and toasted), and
there you are! This is one of the most
delicious tapas in the city! |
