| Don Quixote and Sancho
Panza watch over the pool at the Plaza de Espana. |

The author of Don Quixote, Miguel de
Cervantes, serenely looks over his literary
creations from above.

Locate in a forest of
skyscrapers, the Plaza de Espana is an expansive
green area with a pool and a massive monument
celebrating Spanish culture. In this extensively
used park can be found children playing, couples
strolling, and often a Spaniard taking in a novel.
The shade-providing trees on the south side of
the plaza are particularly welcoming on a hot
Meridian day.
The plaza was planned by Teodoro
Anasagasti and Mateo Inurria. The stone monument
was build in 1928.
