When visiting Madrid, can one think of a better location to stay than across from the Royal Palace and next to the Royal Theater (la Opera)?
This hostal is run by a charming Spanish lady, Victoria, who has lived here most of her life and is a delightful host.
Photo above - The central grey building is the opera house and the yellow one on the right is where the Hostal Valencia is housed.

Above - A view of the Royal Palace and the Plaza de Oriente as seen from my room at the Hostal Valencia.

The Plaza de Oriente gardens, fountains, hedges, etc., lie between the palace and the Hostal Valencia and the opera house.

There are three rooms with a view of the gardens and palace, one of which is considered the ‘special double’, more for the extra space than anything else. There is a supplement of 15 euros for this room.
All the rooms are clean and comfortable, with en suite bathrooms, but there is no room service or telephone available. There is a rather nice café downstairs which is great for breakfast.
Recently an elevator has been installed in the building, thus making it much easier for those carrying suitcases and bags.

Note - Due to its location this Hostal is on the expensive side.
