Nothing can prepare you for the Gasparini Room. Named after its creator Matteo Gasparini, this room is both fascinating and overwhelming. I have to believe the first "Gasp" was heard in the presence of Gasparini.

Photo above - the gasparini room.

Charles III used this room for both receiving guests and as a dressing room. The amount of work required to complete this room was so enormous it was not done until 14 years after Charles III's death.

Decorated in the Baroque style, the room's walls are covered in silk with gold and silver embroidery.

Photo left - a closeup of one of the ceiling's corner details. Notice the oriental influence on the design.

There is a haunting earthy feel to this room. Stylized vines cling to its walls, delivering the nourishment to the flowers bursting forth upon its ceiling.

Even the furnishings replicate this earthy theme.

The floor continues the earthy theme. Looks to me like it represents both the raw earth and a giant flower in bloom.
