The Alcazar de los Reyes was the summer palace of the king and queen. In 1489 Columbus met here with Fernado and Isabel prior to sailing off to find a new route to the Indies.

The gardens of the Alcazar are the primary reason to visit this palace. The renovated palace does have some Roman mosaics on its walls.
