For website navigation simplicity I have combinded the autonomous communities of Castile-La Mancha, Castile-León and Madrid to cover the central region of Spain.
Of the autonomous communities of Spain, Castile-La Mancha is one of the least populated, known for its windmills, fields of Sunflowers and the story of Don Quixote. Cities in Castile-La Macha, that I have visited, are Cuenca and Toledo.
The autonomous community of Castile-León has a number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in its boarders, amoung them, Avila, Salamanca, Segovia, Burgos, Las Medulas (a roman gold mine) and the archaeological deposits of Atapuerca, also near Burgos.
Madrid is both the Capital of Spain and an autonomous community of Spain. The community of San Lorenzo de El Escorial is a municipality within the Madrid autonomus community.
